Greatness of God evidenced through Swine flu.

My 3 year old daughter had swine flu (h1n1) a few weeks ago and the lessons learned from that were great. 1st lesson God loves me and us (His children) and is there for me and us (His children) and His goodness and mercy are beyond my comprehension. 2nd lesson the blessings that are mine and those that are members of His church are awesome, amazing, priceless, and wondrous. Lesson 3 the things that people (the world) fear do not need to be my or our (people of His church) fears. 4th lesson He has not left me or us (His children) alone powerless in this world. He gave us tools to help us on our journey and come back to Him and get through the rough and great and terribleness that is the last days.

So here is the story that taught me all these things. Monday January 25, 2010 my 3 year old gets a fever around 2:00pm. She had been fine all morning and all of a sudden she began to wine and cry so I picked her up to comfort her and she was burning up. I gave her medicine and had her lay down. The fever did not go away. That night before we sent her to bed I took her temperature it was 102.5. I gave her some more medicine and she slept on and off through the night. The next morning she was burning up again or maybe still. I gave her some more medicine and contemplated taking her to the doctor. Usually I don't like to go to the doctor right away. I like to wait and if no improvement is made in 3 or 4 days then take them in. Well while I was thinking of taking her or waiting the thought came to me that I should take her in. Jon (my husband) and I took her in to the doctor a couple of hours later. Her fever was down to 100.7 after 2 hours on Tylenol. She had no energy and just sat on my lap. The doctor thought it was a cold virus that had been going around. They hadn't seen the swine flu (h1n1) for a few months so he didn't think it was that. After asking us a few more questions he decided to test for it anyway and sure enough it was. I truly believe he was prompted to test for it as we were prompted to take her in. So we got the Tamiflu and were sure she would be better in a few days because we caught it early and the tamiflu would knock it out. She was so sick to her stomach she was not able to take the tamiflu. So Wednesday night, my husband and Brother Young (a wonderful neighbor) gave her a priesthood blessing for the sick. They laid there hands on her head and gave her a blessing from Heavenly Father. In her blessing she was blessed that she would have energy, that she would be able to keep her food and medicine down, and that the sickness would eventually leave her body. They closed the blessing in Jesus Christ's name and both of them had to run off to scouts so they were not witnesses to the miracle of the blessing. But my little 3 year old who had been laying around or carried if she wanted to move got up off the chair and Started running circles around it. She was able to drink liquids and keep them down the next day and eat a little bit of food. The medicine she hated and would not take it so I gave up on that. She was feeling great through the weekend she just had a cough and then by Friday of the next week Febuary 5, she was fine and back to normal.
Heavenly Father has blessed us with so much here on earth. He loves us and wants us to return to Him. He has given us the Holy Ghost to guide us through times of trouble and uncertainty and through all the things the last days has in store for us. We have priesthood power which is the authority to act in God's name, given to the Faithful men of His church to bless His children here on earth. We have tools and His love and we don't have to be afraid of anything if we strive to keep His commandments and do all that He asks us to do, the blessings waiting for us are so great and numerous. I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is His church His Son Jesus Christ is the head of it and He leads it through a living prophet today, Thomas S. Monson. His love and blessings are there for us if we can exercise faith in Him and I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ amen.
